Delete your account & data.
This page explains how to permanently delete your Recore or Church Flow account and the personal information associated with it, exactly what we delete, what we may need to keep, and how long it takes. You do not need to be signed in to read or use this page.
How to request deletion
- Email [email protected] from the email address on your Recore or Church Flow account, with the subject line “Delete my account”, and tell us which app and which church you use. Sending it from your account's own email address helps us confirm the request is really from you.
- Tell us who you are. Include your name as it appears in the app and, if you can, the mobile number on the account. If you manage a family, let us know whether you also want the family members and children you added to be removed.
- Confirm your identity. We may ask you one or two questions to verify the account is yours before we act, so that nobody else can request deletion of your account.
- We delete your data as described below and email you to confirm once it is done.
If your version of the Recore app or the Church Flow app includes a delete-account option (usually under Settings → Account), you can also start the request from inside the app; it reaches the same team and follows the same process.
What we delete
- Your account and sign-in: your email address, the secure hash of your password, any connected Apple, Google or Microsoft sign-ins, and your one-time-code and session data.
- Your profile: your name, phone number and profile photo.
- Content that identifies you: your prayer requests, sermon notes, the direct messages and voice notes you sent, your comments and reactions, and photos you uploaded.
- Device identifiers: your push-notification tokens.
- Family & children's records you added and manage, on request, including the check-in records tied to them.
What we may keep, and why
To meet our legal obligations and to be fair to other people, a small amount of information may be kept after your account is deleted:
- Giving and financial records. Where you have given through the app, South African law requires the church to keep proper financial and tax records for a set period. We keep the record of those gifts (amount, date, fund) only for as long as the law requires, and only for accounting and legal compliance (never for marketing), after which it is deleted.
- Content shared with others. Messages you posted in a group chat, or content you shared with other people, may stay visible to those people in their own copy of the conversation even after your account is gone. We remove your identifying profile details from it where we reasonably can.
- Legal or safety holds. If we are legally required to retain specific information (for example because of an ongoing legal matter or a safeguarding record), we keep only what we must, for only as long as we must.
- Encrypted backups. Residual copies may remain in our encrypted backups for a short time after deletion and are removed on our normal backup rotation (within 90 days).
- Anonymised data. Information that no longer identifies you (for example aggregate, anonymised usage statistics) may be kept.
How long it takes
We action verified deletion requests within 30 days, and usually much sooner. Any residual copies in encrypted backups roll off within a further 90 days, as described above.
Delete some things without closing your account
You don't have to delete your whole account to remove specific information. In the app you can:
- change or remove your profile photo;
- edit or delete your own notes and messages;
- turn off location, contacts, camera, microphone and notification permissions from your device's settings.
If you only want to stop a recurring donation, you can do that from the giving area of the app, or ask us; closing your account is not required.
